Tabling at Wear Orange Community Awareness Day

TFS will have a table at the Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense in America's Wear Orange Community Awareness Day event on Saturday, June 4.

Our message is that thoughts and prayers will never be enough because nothing fails like prayer.

Gather with Survivors, volunteers, and leaders from throughout the Triangle to begin Wear Orange weekend. There will be speeches and appearances by gun violence survivors, the Raleigh and Durham police chiefs, politicians, activists, and others. Snacks, water, and juice boxes will be available as well as games and kids' activities. This celebration will lift the voices of Survivors, build connections among concerned citizens and civic leaders, and galvanize action in our communities.

This is a family and community event, so please bring your children, your friends, and neighbors. Moms Demand Action is hosting this event along with the Raleigh Mayor’s Office, Raleigh Police Department, and the Raleigh-Apex NAACP. Representatives from cities and organizations throughout the Triangle, including TFS, are participating.

Board members are planning on working the table to talk to attendees and put ourselves in front of the officials and other activists to engage with our community. Anyone who would like to join us working the table is welcome to just show up (we’ll be setting up around 9:30). Feel free to bring a mask if you intend to work the table as we’ll be in close quarters even though it is outside.

The address for John Chavis Memorial Park is 505 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27601. This outdoor event will take place on the Baseball Field from 10am to 12pm. Wear Orange clothes if you have some.

There is another event on Sunday, June 5: The Wear Orange Walk starts at 11am at the Legislature Building (16 West Jones St, Raleigh) and will loop the area. This is hosted by Representative Julie Von Haefen and other officials including Rep. Marcia Morey and Sen. Jay Chaudhuri will be participating as will leaders from Moms Demand Action.
